Ian Forrester art on display during November, 2011. Reception, November 17th (during Art Walk)
Painter
Ian Forrester is an award-winning painter who studied painting and printmaking at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and before that at Douglas Anderson SOTA in Jacksonville, Florida. Rock-and-roll and the musicians who create it heavily inspire Ian. While in Boston, Ian produced a series of portraits of the talented musicians who were performance majors at Berklee College of Music, and is currently working on a documentary of the rock band White Shoe Brown Shoe. Also present in his work is an immense respect of the ocean, and the surfing, skating, and the coastal lifestyle that that contains. He often returns to these subjects in a continual exploration of his relationship with the sea. He is also currently working on a graphic novel with a writer from Suffix University (Boston). His work differs in size, medium, style and subject matter. He continually paints everything from large-scale portraits of friends, to small abstracts, and skateboard that he sells through Skatebomb. Ian taught visual arts as an extended day instructor for a local elementary school, and has since decided to pursue a degree in art education from the University of North Florida.
