Vicky Lennon on display April 2011  - Reception, April 21st (during Art Walk)

As children look for forms in the clouds, Vicky Lennon's work invites you to briefly leave realism and search for hidden meanings or objects.  They beg the viewer to draw closer, study a little longer, and experience the art more emotionally.  That is when you realize the shapes and colors give the piece a life of its own.

Vicky holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Florida.  Her work has evolved from the printmaking process into the layering of acrylic paints, mediums and found objects.  Working intuitively, starting with a page of color and shapes, Vicky reworks areas until she is pleased with the marriage of color, form, texture and surface.

Lennon's travel with her husband, John, to Europe, Asia and within the United States, as well as their boating trips up and down the Intracoastal Waterway and the Bahamas with their cocker spaniel, Cutter, has had a significant influence on her art.

Her works can be found in several private and corporate collections including Ed White Hospital, St. Petersburg Florida, Florida State College of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Florida, and Lake City Community College, Lake City Florida.  Vicky has retired from a successful career in Real Estate after almost 20 years to pursue her creative desires.

She volunteers in the art community, bringing art experiences to children in the hospital, is past president of Jacksonville Coalition for the Visual Arts and was appointed to the Jacksonville Arts in Public Places commission for two consecutive terms.

Abbott Tract Artists Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida, Archway Gallery and Framing, Atlantic Beach Florida, and Village Arts, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, represent her works.

As an artist, she shares her love of color and texture and hopes her works enlist thought and conversation and add life to an otherwise quiet space.
